On March 13, 2018, poultry worker leaders from the Western North Carolina Workers’ Center along with staff organizers joined faith leaders and laypeople, hunger relief advocates, farmers, farm workers, community organizers, community gardeners, food council members, extension agents and others at the 2019 Come To The Table Conference in Charlotee, NC sponsored by Rural Advancement Foundation International, USA. The conference was a gathering in order to examine the root causes of hunger and collaborate to build a more just food system.

In Western North Carolina Workers’ Center’s breakout session at the conference, poultry worker leaders provided an overview of the issues faced by poultry workers in NC and across the country and talked about the worker-led campaigns to demand justice within the industry and give audience members the opportunity to take action in solidarity with poultry workers in NC.
