This week, the Senate passed a stimulus bill that will provide financial assistance to workers and families affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19. Also many workers who have been laid off or have had their hours significantly reduced due to the pandemic can claim unemployment benefits in North Carolina.

However many immigrants workers in Western North Carolina and their families can not access these benefits…..making them disproportionately negatively affected by COVID-19 impacts on the economy.

Immigrant hotel workers, restaurant workers, general industry workers among others have been impacted dramatically.

Entire immigrant families in WNC have been impacted already.

Although we do not know what the future hold in terms of the pandemic, we are very clear about our position in these difficult times: support each other collectively to overcome the shocking consequences of this pandemic.

That is why Western North Carolina Workers’ Center has created a rapid response fund to raise $50,000 to help immigrant  workers in WNC who do not qualify for unemployment benefits and other government benefits and who have lost their job or have had their working hours significantly reduced.

Your donation will help overcome the shocking consequences of this pandemic.

Please help these workers in Western North Carolina today and make a donation here.

You can make a difference in the lives of families today. In a time where everything is unclear the only thing we can rely on is collective support….we can give to each other.
